exceptionally unexpected
Oliver Jeffers‘ work has an element of wit and quirkiness that gives his whimsical, imperfect illustrations a macabre underbelly with a sweet lemony coating. Take a look and you’ll know what I mean.
His maps project for United Airlines maps cities in five hours, taking the highlights and then adding a touch of humor, like the girl checking her hair in the reflection of the sculpture in Charlotte. All of the imperfections and layers add character and create a rich story. I spent several minutes in the depths of his site, looking at all of his Illustrations, which seem to be a hidden, unlinked gem on his site.
