Nautical Puns

Not to make you scroll down for like an hour (okay I’m exaggerating) but this made me laugh out loud. Several times. By myself. Worth the read. Has nothing to do with Design, Music, or Food, sorry guys.

Oh, and it’s from College Humor, but I found it in my newsfeed. If I’m checking random websites, they are usually design related.

Gravity Clock

Okay I normally do not pay for apps because there are a bajillion free ones, but this is $0.99 (0.79€), totally worth it guys! I’ve wasted so much glorious time staring at my phone! It’s incredible! I want a Mac app as a screensaver or background, but as of right now it’s just an app for iPhone and iPad and I think there is probably a version for all you people with non Apple (aka ugly) phones out there (I know, I’m so nice right?). Jörg Piringer has programmed this beautiful app called Gravity Clock, and you can read more about it or get it here. These are my screenshots, but there are more of them posted on the site. And you can drool over the video they made. It also works with Twitter, but who uses that anyway?

Some More Lovely Packaging

Packaging Part II today (I realize you are reading these in reverse order, so this obvs looks like part one, well there’s another one after/before this, duh): More Pasta! Pinstripe pasta, to be exact. And bread. I love it when people use large luscious images of food on the boxes, in a tasteful way, I’m not talkin’ bout commercials for Red-Lobster/Denny’s sh*t, that’s disgusting. I added a second example below from Turner Duckworth, a San Francisco design firm, and some of their work for Waitrose. Click here to look at more pictures of Gran Farina and read about the designers, Mangion & Lightfoot, from Malta.

And the Turner Duckworth below (and I threw in the honey even though it doesn’t speak to my point because I love that it is a bee and a honey wand and an E all at the same time, as well as being simple and clean and altogether wonderful):

some Lovely Packaging

Stay tuned, I’m posting two posts of gorgeous package design from Lovely Package today. It’s been a busy week and I haven’t had time to post, but I’ve been bookmarking things constantly so that when I have time, I can give you guys something interesting to look at! So check this out, this clean, minimal system called PRIMVS designed by NTGJ of Portugal. (That’s my favorite part of Lovely Package, aside from being well curated, it’s culturally diverse! And I always find out about cool new firms I’d never heard of) You can click here to read about this brand and view a few more images. I am kind of obsessed with the pasta boxes, those windows are great! And the clean glass with the wooden caps, simplicity is king!

Rubik’s Cake

Look! it’s a combination between my Rubik’s Cube Box and the Mondrian Cake! The Mondrian cake is, of course, more minimal, and also more appetizing, but this is still cool. Go to this link to read about the cake and see who made it.

(ps. sorry about that person’s really tacky, badly typeset logo in the bottom of every picture, I was too lazy to photoshop it out. It’s sad that I know the typeface is called Dragonfly, but please oh please do not go try to download it! It’s ugly!)
