10 Principles poster for 50 bucks

Tracked it down!!!! FINALLY! buy it here. by “it” I mean the Dieter Rams 10 Principles for Good Design poster I’ve been obsessing over. Vitsoe’s beautiful poster. Splurged $50 on it because it’s toooottalllyyy worth it (to me at least). The sale, as of 2:12 AM, East Coast time, goes for 2 more days and 8 hours. then I guess you’ll have to track down a new link to buy it.

Dieter Rams says, “I am always surprised by how much interest there is in my ten principles for good design. In a way, it’s a little overwhelming. But, on the occasion of my 80th birthday, they are more relevant than ever.” HAPPY EIGHTIETH DIETER! You make my world!

Fab.com describes the poster: Happy birthday to Dieter Rams, one of FAB’s favorite designers! This AO poster celebrates fifty years of business for Vitsœ, the producer of Rams’ unsurpassed 606 shelving system. The poster is an ideological statement featuring Rams’ legendary Ten Principles for Good Design. Illustrated by products designed at Braun by Rams and his colleagues, the poster is a hyper-real synthesis of graphics and photography that was originally printed in a very limited-edition run. This is a very special collaboration with Dieter Rams, Vitsœ and FAB.

in the final throes of battle

Hey my loyal wonderful readers! Sorry I haven’t posted anything awesome lately. I probably won’t be able to until after I’ve turned everything in. Essay due Monday, Final critique for my degree project on Thursday, and another essay due next monday then FREEEEDOOOOOOMMMM!!!! I promise I haven’t forgotten about you and I’ll post cool pictures when it’s all over! In the meantime, this is hanging on a piece of rice paper on the door to the Graphic Design Department office above the lists of all the final critique schedules. Quite a quippy remark. Love it! Definitely true.

and check it out! got new supplies. Because of course you always run out of all your cheap (as in not PVA high quality book glue or studio tack) adhesives at the same time.

site updated – new projects

I just added a few new projects to my website. One of them includes the Flash music game I made last year at Elisava. My teacher didn’t speak a word of English, (Catalan native, who conversed with me in Spanish) so when I was embedding them in my site, I was mentally pronouncing iframe as ee frame ha. Anyway I had fun illustrating that one and a bit less fun manually writing all of the actionscript to animate it, but there you go. Go click around. Mind you it was my first ever (and nearly last) flash animation, so cut me some slack :P

The other new projects are the Course Announcement cover and an assignment for my information design class. The teacher, age 75, decided we should design a set of screen-based instructions to explain one function on a mobile phone. I tell you how to fix a typo in a text message of an iPhone. Useful…. I guess?

I’m officially in PRINT!

Guys the cover of the RISD 2012 Course Announcement I designed for my work study job with RISD Media+Partners (they do the RISD website and XYZ magazine) has officially been printed and bound! I’m a published designer! (even though most people throw the course announcements away because we pick our classes online…) but still! Go see more pictures on Behance or on my website. (but the images here are bigger, you can click on them)
