compile time dependencies of a hacker

Last night, Lookout hosted our annual Google I/O Kickoff party, and 400 people walked away with my design. (well, 399, because I took one home before the party).

You can see this on Behance or Cargo Collective.

The lovely model is Nico Eberienos, one of Lookout’s product designers.

(not pictured: the sleeve reads “compile time dependencies: if you were to compile or build a hacker from source code, these are the components you would need.”)

Designer Dad and the Bag Lunch

What a way to eat a sandwich! My mom made interesting lunches for me in elementary school, then I made them for myself and my sister in high school, but I never thought to use it as a canvas. This is a great little slice of home in the school yard, and the fact that he documented them all makes it even better. I’ve got to wonder whether his kids keep the bags or throw them out. This is the story of David LaFerriere “from Attleboro who went to RISD many moons ago,” in his own words.

From Colossal:

Graphic designer and competitor for Best Dad Ever, David LaFerriere has been drawing illustrations on his children’s sandwich bags since 2008. Lucky for us he photographs almost every single one, over 1,100 of which you can explore over on Flickr.

“I’ve been doing it for my kids since they were little, They love it, and nothing makes me happier than hearing their reaction at the end of the day,” he says.

ketchup & mustard

Similar to Pantone Tarts, which I posted last year, is Food Art Pairings, a great find on Design;Defined. Food Art Pairings is a whimsical diptych project using Pantone as the vehicle to describe typically married foods. Designed by David Schwen. You can see more pairings and buy his prints here.

Helsinki Food Company

The beautiful and complete identity for Helsinki Food Company, designed by Werklig. See a more in depth description of the project, as well as more (and much larger) photographs, on their site.

Our assignment was to design a versatile, easily modified and cost-efficient brand identity stemming from the celebration of food culture. […] Good design and luxurious appearance does not always require a big fat bag of money.
