A bit of semi-tasteless humor with lots of design-nerd jokes, some of which are funny I guess. Found it here.

Also, I’ll mention that my mom, though not a designer, is a great sounding board for my graphic design ideas, and she is not fat or stupid or ugly at all. :)
This is from 5:38ish PM today, when I was trying for about 40 minutes to save a file so I could make a different version to show my boss before the end of the work day (which, though technically is 5:30, I’ve stayed until 7:30 three days in a row… such is the life at design studios). PS everything worked out, I just made the second art board its own file. I was working on a document someone else started, and it’s all vectors so Illustrator actually didn’t have enough memory to display preview and switched to outline mode! (usually when I start my own files from scratch I try to keep them organized enough to not get that big). (PS the image is dark because the thunder storm made it get dark at 3pm today instead of 8pm)

(This is supposed to say Command, not Control, because it’s directed at designers, who tend to use Macs. Obviously the person who made this is still in PC world) Facebook newsfeed sure is a great source for random imagery! People post the strangest things, though there are a few gems. Here’s Cut Paste Undo! (where’s copy? command C?!)

Side Note:
Today it rained and hailed and thundered and lightninged more in just 3 hours in NY than I think I’ve ever seen total accumulated in my whole lifetime in the Bay Area. How is it possible to still be 95°F and be hailing? No but seriously there was thunder every 10 seconds! I’ve never been in a storm before apparently, because in SF, it only thunders like once a year and the claps are like three minutes apart and barely loud at all. I swear it rained more inches today than it has rained total in SF in 20 years. Jesus! mini hurricane much?
I got to work an hour early, and quickly learned, at least at this studio, it’s much more important to stay late in the evening than to be there early! good to know! I feel immersed already. I got to participate in a critique of sorts, and I’ve already started on a project. Plus, I’m using a Wacom tablet and pen for the first time (when you pretty much exclusively use InDesign in RISD’s graphic design department, all you need is a mouse with 360° scroll, but in Illustrator, a tablet is preferable.) and now I’m seriously thinking about scouring eBay for a good one! Also, thanks guys, got this notification today.

Fantastic little sign on Governor’s Island NY. I went to the Cooper Hewitt exhibit there today. Some of the stuff was kinda cool, a lot of it was stuff I recognized from RISD guest lectures :)
