T-Rex Trying

One of the sites I frequent most, I hope he keeps doodling, these are so great! They are simply drawn, but consistently a recognizable character! Very well done and also quite funny. I laughed out loud the first time I read them. (I seem to say that a lot, but not everything is funny enough to make people laugh aloud by themselves!) Right now there are four pages on his tumblr of these wonderful quirky witty drawings of a T-Rex attempting to do some sort of task that requires having longer arms. It’s so great! Also, they are T-shirts!

T-Rex trying to use the speed bag...

T-Rex trying to retrieve his keys from a storm drain...

T-Rex trying to hike a football...

T-Rex trying to hang curtains...

T-Rex trying to play the bass... the banjo... the ukulele!!!

T-Rex trying to hang glide...

T-Rex trying to chart exponential growth...

Cloud City

Okay so the shirt is kinda meh, whatever. That guy is cute though :P No but seriously it’s not about the image on the shirt, even though I am a designer, and my internship is exclusively making graphics for shirts haha. The reason I am posting this is appreciation for the Copy!

T-Shirt explanation on their website: (so great!)

Cloud City
You know the scenario. Your buddy from the midwest visits you in February, thinking California is one big, sun-soaked beach. He steps off the plane in cargo shorts and flip flops. Much to his dismay, the weather turns out to be more Scotland than San Diego.

So he spends the rest of his stay in borrowed jeans and a “trolley car” fleece that he bought while freezing his nuts off at The Wharf.

You show him the sites — at least the ones that are visible — punctuating every stop with, “You should really see this in September.” He finally leaves, not exactly angry, but not quite remembering why he left Minnetonka in the first place.

You feel a little bad about it. But not really. Because deep down you’re grateful for the fog and chilly weather. Nah, you love the fog and chilly weather. Because you know it’s the only thing preventing every rich d-bag on the planet from setting up camp here. (After all, that’s what LA is for.)

Tocky

Tocky by Nanda Home, is an adorable, quirky little clock, that rolls away when you try to turn it off. It has a microphone to record messages to play as the alarm, or you can upload mp3s to it’s drive. Super well made, nicely minimal, cute, and functional. I want one! but I can’t decide if I’d get red, black, or white. It’s cool also that they thought of making skins if you choose to change the color!

Pantone Fall 2012 Fashion Report

Yeah, I know, I’m a nerd. I subscribe to Pantone’s newsletter :P

Check it out though! It’s pretty cool. This year’s Fashion Color Report.

Even though, as a student, I pretty much only print on my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 Inkjet, and don’t really send prints out much, I still think I’m going to splurge this year on a set of Pantone Color Books to help me decide what would look good on paper, not just designing for the screen. Yay color theory. God that class was hard. Thank Jan Fairbairn for that ~$300 I told you guys I spent on gouache the semester I took color so that I could make, among other things, a perfectly incremented twelve-step achromatic scale (which required about 150 steps before I chose the 12 that worked)

Go listen to the Bipolar mix! It is actually amazing. I’ve listened to it four times already. He’s playing at Ruby Skye tonight so if you’re in SF, get your butt over there :P

WordPress won’t let me embed the player here, so click on my screenshot to go listen!
